about

In the spring of 2009 my friend Kyle Rees and I decided we wanted to start a hip hop project called No Frontin'. We had one rehearsal where we just played Tuff Ghost once or twice and then rode our bikes or something. Later that year my first band, Silent Distortion broke up. I took our singer and bassist and we met up with Kyle to form what would become Notes From The Underground.

Our first rehearsal was us covering Trash Flavored Trash which I think we played at a show once but I can't remember. We recorded a one song demo in January and that spring recorded a 5 song EP the night before I took my SAT's. We played somewhere between ten and twenty shows together in New Hampshire, Maine, and Massachusetts before calling it quits in early 2010 for no reason whatsoever. Coincidentally, we played our last show at the same venue my first band played its last show..

It was fun while it lasted so here's the six songs we managed to get recordings of while we could. This band represents four people excited to be making music together with some of their best friends. In retrospect, the demise of this band coincided with all of us reaching major turning points in our own lives. Kyle Bouchard and I left for college where I would start Dérive and he would become a member of the United States military. Ahren became a father and went back to school and Kyle Rees immersed himself in new music projects, live sound, and his work for the church.
